Any true cigar lover appreciates the chance to discover new brands and flavors. Consider some of these stand out buys before you make your next purchase.
Al Capone Cigarillos are made in Germany by the Dannemann company. The company was started in 1873 in the small town of Sao Felix, Brazil. These cigarillos are made up of a combination of Nicaraguan and Brazilian tobacco leaves and utilize a unique Bahia wrapper as well a conglomeration of vintage fillers from the Condega, Jalapa and Esteli regions of Nicaragua. Al Capone was infamous for his bootlegging of liquor during the Prohibition Era. It's certainly no coincidence that Al Capone Cigarillos all come in either Rum or Cognac!
A true pioneer in the cigarillo industry, Henri Wintermans launched Café Creme. Born in 1886, Henri started his own factory with his brother, Sjaak in 1904. In 1934 they relocated their factory to Eersel, a small town in the Netherlands, where the factory still functions today.
Café Creme cigarillos are now imported by CAO, and come in tins of twenty in a variety of flavors. The regular Café Creme cigarillos are wrapped carefully in a Java leaf, with a selection of Dominican Republic, Java and Columbian tobaccos. Wintermans also offers the same Café Creme, except the cigarillo has a filter, thus the Café Creme Filter cigarillo.
Café Creme Blue utilizes the same tobacco, but is wrapped in a blond Ecuadorian leaf. The Café Creme Aromé, or Oriental, uses the same blond Ecuadorian leaf, but its blend consists of tobacco from the Far East, Africa and Brazil. Have the feel of traveling the far seas while relaxing in your own home with one of these top shelf cigars!
An adventurously innovative company, Ashton produces niche cigars to appeal to sublime and sophisticated tastes. The Heritage Puro Sol separates itself from the pack with its smooth Cameroon wrapper, initially hand selected by the late West African tobacco seed preservationist Richard Meerapfel.
An anniversary cigar, the rare Estate Sun Grown blend is produced in limited quantities and sold by the stick with one new size to be rolled out each year until 2010. Boasting an exclusive blend concocted by Carlos Fuente Jr., the ESG is a forcefully exquisite smoking experience, underscoring the excellence that is Ashton.
Five centuries after Christopher Columbus heard the word Cohiba for the first time in the Dominican Republic, a Cohiba cigar was developed in the same country by Diaz y Cia in l978. The Dominican Cohiba cigar, which was reformulated in the 1990s, is the only Cohiba cigar that can be purchased legally in the United States.
The Cohiba cigar that is crafted today in the Dominican Republic took years to develop. The dark, rich wrapper leaf is grown in the sub-tropical West African climate of Cameroon. The supple and flavorful Jember binder is grown in Indonesia. To balance the richness of the wrapper, the smooth-smoking Piloto Cubano filler leaves are grown in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Cohiba is a deeply satisfying cigar, rich in flavor and history, that does not overpower the smoker.
Hand made in Honduras, these tasty cigars will delight even the seasoned cigar connoisseur. Beautifully packaged in lovely semi-boite nature boxes, Gispert cigars are crafted with a unique blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan grown long filler tobaccos, a Honduran binder and a rich Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper. Gisperts are moderately priced and are available in eight sizes.
The Avo Classic cigar is a mild, yet flavorful cigar, and is the very cigar that Avo built his family of cigars upon. Using a delicious Connecticut-seed Sun Grown Wrapper grown in Ecuador, the Avo Classic cigar is delightfully aromatic, as well as being rich in flavor.
The Avo Classic cigar uses Cuban-seed Piloto and San Vicente filler and binder, which are blended with Dominican Olor leaves to create the Avo Classic aroma and mellow flavor. These cigars have always been a top seller, and anyone who has tried an Avo can attest to the quality that lies inside each wooden box.
Released in 2002, these cigars boast an amazing Criollo wrapper. All 5 sizes are offered in boxes of 20, with four drawers that each contain 5 cigars individually wrapped in tissue paper to protect the precious Nicaraguan tobacco inside.
You have never known flavored cigars until you've had CAO Flavours. All 3 sizes come in Bella Vanilla, Earth Nectar, Eileen's Dream, Gold Honey, Karma Sutra Splash and Moontrance. Moontrance also has a Tubo size, making them able to follow you wherever you go.
These flavored smokes use natural flavors, such as orange blossom honey, vanilla beans from Madagascar, exotic fruits, bourbon, Irish Cream, white chocolate truffles, almonds, cocoa, raisins, Chianti wine, Hawaiian mango and chocolate mint ice cream. CAO Flavours is certainly a new kind of flavored cigar, blending some of the most exotic ingredients with some of the best Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Whatever your personal tastes are, there is bound to be a quality cigar that will excite your taste buds!

It happens to the biggest premium cigar aficionados out there: things start to get a little stale. Not "stale" in the sense of dried-out. That can happen, of course, but it's not likely to, if your humidor is set at the standard sixty-seven to seventy-four percent relative humidity range, and as...
