Is it illegal for a minor to buy a lighter?
Question by Samuel: Is it illegal for a minor to buy a lighter?
Im 16 and my dad is a cigar aficionado of sorts and his birthday is next weekend. Their is a cigar shop about 6 miles from my house so before I waste a good couple of hours biking their and back I would like to know if it is legal or not, seeing as if the employees refuse they risk being fined. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I live in New Jersey if it makes a difference.

It shouldn't matter I bought them all the time, and never have been carded. The law states it's only Tobacco where you get carded. I don't know if the fact your in New Jersey would make a difference or not.

Why not call the shop on the phone before you bike over there?
I am sure they will know the law.

It is not illegal, but some places might still card. Don’t ask me why, but it does happen (to me, anyways). Some cigar shops wont even let you in if you aren’t 18, so I would recommend calling ahead before you bike all the way over there. Better safe than sorry IMO
