A humidor is any kind of box or room with constant humidity - and often warmth as well - used to store cigars, cigarettes, or pipe tobacco A cigar humidor is a box (or room) designed to store and age cigars within the optimal humidity range of 68 % to 72% at room temperature. a humidor can also be an attractive piece of furniture.

A humidor contains a humidification device that either adds or removes humidity inside the box to maintain the optimal level. Cigars should be stored at room temperature (about 70F degrees) with a humidity level of 68 to 72 percent. Sometimes, it is difficult to maintain a constant level of humidity inside the box, especially when seasons change.
Hydrometer is a gauge used to measure the level of humidity . Analog or digital hygrometers can be used to measure humidity levels inside of humidors. Cigars are hygroscopic in nature. They will over time dry out when in a dry climate or absorb moisture in a humid one. And they will continue to do so until their own moisture content matches that of the ambient climate around them.

A dry cigar will burn too hot. Without the proper level of moisture, the combustion temperature of your cigar will be too high and the smoke will be hot and acrid against your palate.
Humidors come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and colors Some are simple classic designs while others are wildly exotic. Humidors can be quite expensive so you should view a wide variety and take your time when selecting one. When selecting a humidor it is best to select one with 5/8" or greater wall thickness. These devices are typically low-cost and serve almost everyone's humidifier needs

Passive humidifiers have traditionally been constructed of sponge, clay, or oasis florist foam encased in a perforated container. The foam is moistened with distilled water and then placed within the humidor.

Humidors are generally offered with analog hygrometers.
Three systems of analog hygrometers must be differentiated:
Analog hygrometers with a metal spring,. Analog natural hair hygrometers and Analog synthetic hair hygrometers.
The first thing you should decide while buying a humidor is the capacity you require and where you will place it A good humidor should be large enough to comfortably and loosely hold your cigars. If you have more than one type of cigar, you should choose a humidor with dividers so that the tastes don't blend
