cool looking dog….what kind is that?
February 14th, 2011 - 00:28
I just used a basic plastic hip holster and snap it to the metal bar that goes across the handle bars and use zip ties to secure the hip holster stays firm, doesn’t pop off or rotate too much.

Sorry if I missed it, but what mount did you use for your Droid?
February 14th, 2011 - 01:36
@davo5400 I may do that. RIght now, I’m playing it by ear. I do have a kind of solution for that problem, which I’ll show in a follow up vid. thx,

you should try wiring it to switched power source so you don’t drain your battery in case you leave something plugged in. Gread vid though.
this will be my project today.

February 14th, 2011 - 03:38
wow …. thats cool ,
since I installed ubuntu on my computer
I discovered many things , but I never thought that we can do
such cool thing with linux
keep it up man , I loved ur work

It needs two to track rotation and depth. For pointing it only needs one.
February 14th, 2011 - 04:46
I thought the wiimote needed *two* lights to track the position?
February 14th, 2011 - 04:50
Correct since the Wiimote uses infrared sensors to track position and a flame is a great infrared source.
So, short of waving the bar thing around or powering up and waving an infrared led, you used a lighter.
Come on everyone who says this is pointless and crap, it’s not, it’s a unique use of the Wii controls. If you think it’s pointless, then go watch something else, after all the title was clear about what he was doing.

Guys, come on… Not EVERYTHING requires a point to make it cool. He’s painting Simulated Fire with Fire! It’s an art, of sorts. I’m sure you Could do something similar with a standard webcam instead of a wiimote, invert the left and right signals and make it “mirrored” anyway. How he’s doing it, what he’s doing, all cool. Does it have a point? Does it need to?
February 14th, 2011 - 06:02
I am moving a real flame around and, subsequently, simulated fire is drawn on the screen in front of me.
If the lighter was not there then I would just be a person waving my arm around in a dark room.
I would say that the lighter constitutes the lion’s share of the point.
February 14th, 2011 - 06:04
sorry. so the lighter is kind of pointless then isn’t it
February 14th, 2011 - 06:16
That is not a sentence.
February 14th, 2011 - 06:32
so the lights kinda pointless then
February 14th, 2011 - 07:21
Is there a software mac?
February 14th, 2011 - 07:50
lol. What a dilemma. Btw, I like the effects in this video with the squiggly line highlighting.
February 14th, 2011 - 08:41
Then it would go the correct way left/right, but up/down would be inverted instead!
February 14th, 2011 - 09:02
I think that if you put your Wiimote upside down, the fire would go the correct way.
February 14th, 2011 - 09:23
great idea!, but you should consider removing the tissue box from your computer the next time…
February 14th, 2011 - 09:44
pretty pointless
February 14th, 2011 - 09:59
wow, very nice video!, FIRE!!!.. cool
February 14th, 2011 - 10:14
great vid, thanks!
